Another Purse Finished!

Another purse is done for a friend of my daughter. I will be taking to her soon, so I sure hope she loves it. I want to do more embellishment, but I don't know how I would do it being that it is faux leather where I usually put a flower or a yoyo/button.

I didn't want to put denim on the inside because I thought it would be too dark, so I found in my stash a graduated lighter blue with dots that look like rain drops on it. I had purchased a remnant of a light beige with swirls and I used that for the pockets and the bottom of the bag. So, I think it turned out better than some of the others I've made since I had to be careful while sewing. I learned you can't take out stitches from the faux leather without it leaving holes.

Let me know what you think!

Have a blessed day!

Friendly Friday Link Day!!!

Hello! It is Friday!! You know what that means? It is Friendly Friday Link Day!!! Let us see how many friends we can find on Fridays. I know next month, I have a blogger who will be doing a guest post. I won't tell you now who, but I believe she will be doing a tutorial, so you really need to stay tuned!!! I want to share with you my purse I made for me and finished it up today. I think I like it, but haven't transferred my "stuff" to it, yet.

I added a flap to it even though the pattern did not call for one. I wanted to try to make one without the zipper, so this is what it turned into. The only thing is that the lining is looser than it should be. But, I will still use it, because I really needed a purse. LOL

Okay, this Friendly Friday Link Day is a new thing my daughter and I are trying. We would love for you to link up your blog with ours and if you are not a friend/follower already, then become one. Share this with others and add our button to your blog. We would love for you to become a part of this Friendly Friday Day!!

Link up here.

Blessings to you,
Teresa

Happenings

Hello my friends. How are you today? I'm doing well as well goes. LOL What has been happening in your neck of the woods? Ours, rain, rain, and more rain. We are already four inches above normal for the month of July here in Alabama. We have had more rain this year than in several of the past years. It has gotten really hot, yet, this summer either. I think it has been in the 90s only two days this month. Wow!! Alabama is usually hot during July. We will see what August has for us in a about a week. I am so tired of rain. How is the weather at your house?

I am still working on the dental issues of late. I am scheduled for August 13th to have the last three teeth pulled and my partial put in. :( Not looking forward to that at all. I am just ready for it to be over. I have had issues with the porcelain breaking off the bridge I've had for several years more in the past year than ever. I dread having "false" teeth, but I'm tired of never knowing when a piece of porcelain will break off the bridge. As a child, the only time we went to the dentist was to have teeth pulled. Daddy didn't make much money and didn't have dental insurance, so dental visits were not a normal thing for us. So, I guess I am paying for it now. Enough about that.

Craft wise, I've accomplished a couple of things. I am making our children a quilt for Christmas this year. Yea, they know. They helped pick out the fabric, etc. I managed to get the center part done for the daughter and SIL's quilt Monday. Took it to Bama Belles, my quilting group, yesterday and had my mentor, Linda, help me measure it to make sure I didn't need to do any squaring up before adding the borders. It was all pretty good. No trimming to be done, but she noticed that a few of my points are not "just right", so I will have to be careful when I sew the first border on to not clip them off too much. So, to finish that top, all I have to do is add the borders. Yea!!!! I can't show you the picture though until after they get it at Christmas. I also started on making myself a purse. I decided to not use a zipper, but a magnetic snap. The pattern supposedly gives you the no zipper option, but doesn't tell you where/how to attach a magnetic snap. So, thankfully, Linda was able to help me figure that out, too.We decided/she suggested that I make a tab and use that on my purse. So, that will be a new project for me. I will look up how to make a tab, measure the place it will go and make one. Hope to finish it up either today or tomorrow. :-) I have a couple other purses to make, and I'm going to try using some of the upholstery fabric I purchases last week and try a few new patterns. I will update soon and show you my purse when I get it done.

Hugs to you and May God Bless you,

Finishes for the Week of July 15, 2013

Good morning!! I pray all is well with each of you. If not, know you are in my prayers. I am doing better than the last post. I have been through it, and still have to have three more teeth pulled and get a partial put in, but I pray that eventually I can eat better than I have in a long time. That may not be good, though. LOL I definitely don't need to gain any more weight. I need to lose!!!

Okay on to what I've accomplished this week. I have a few friends who have purchased fabric for me to make them a purse. So, I managed to get two finished this week. I am proud of the way they look. They are not perfect, but I am learning. I plan to make some different styles, soon, and I want to design my own pattern. I guess I will combine several different patterns to get what I like myself. Then, I will make those for awhile. LOL

Here are the two handbags I finished this week. I think they turned out pretty good. :D

I went to the local America's Thrift Store to look for my grandson some shorts. He has been home schooled for the past two years, but they are trying out the school at the church they attend for 2nd grade. They wear uniforms, but he needed shorts to wear with the uniform shirt. So, DD asked if I would look here to see what I could find. I found him four pair that hopefully, if they fit, he can wear them to school. I also happened up on some fabulous fabric finds. I've been wanting to try making some handbags and totes out of upholstery fabric. Have mercy! I found the jackpot!!! Here is what I found. some of it is absolutely gorgeous. Well, most of it is, or I wouldn't have purchased it. LOL

This fabric is cotton for donation quilts
Well, what do you think of my find? Awesome, huh? Well, that is it for today. Have a blessed day!

PS BE LOOKING OUT FOR A GIVEAWAY SOON. THIS IS MY 150th BLOG POST!!!

What Has Happened?

Hello! Believe it or not, I am still alive!!! Praise the Lord! I tell you what this time last week, I was in severe pain in my face. Whew!!! Still not stopped completely, but I feel alive. I will start out and make a list of happenings for the past two weeks.
1. Sunday- June 30th- bridge on top teeth broke in half
2. Monday - July 1st- called dentist and went in that day and he told me it was time to have five of my top teeth pulled that resided under my bridge and was put on an antibiotic to kill infection.
3. Friday- July 5th- woke up with a headache; received a call from my SIL about she and my oldest brother wanting to come and spend the night with us. Believe me, it was a shock because in 35 years of our marriage, that has never happened. We usually lived too far away for them to come. So, I got up and did some house cleaning and cooked awaiting their arrival later in the day.
4. Saturday- enjoyed visiting during the morning with brother and sil, but my face was hurting across my left cheek bone, nose, and temple area. I was afraid it was a migraine from my chewing being messed up from missing teeth/bridge. So, I sat in my recliner all day getting worse and worse. When bed time came, I couldn't wear my CPAP mask due to the pain and soreness on my face. So, what sleeping I did was in my recliner until early morning when I crawled back into bed for an hour or so. Now think of this, the side hurting was opposite the side where my bridge was missing.
5. Sunday- same thing- hurting really bad and miserable can not explain the pain I was in. DH threatened to take me to the ER, but I refused to go. My sinuses were not stopped up or running, but I felt like someone had hit me with a baseball bat. Sat in recliner covered up, dozing off and on, taking my mild pain medicine which was not fazing it at all. That night I slept fitfully. Actually, I had not slept well in a couple of weeks.
6. Monday- July 8th- I called the dentist to see what I needed to do since I was scheduled to have two teeth pulled the next day. He told me to call my physician and see if I could see him first to make sure what was happening. I had already called my doctor and no appointment was available. So, after talking to my dentist, I asked my doctor's office to work me in. Still hurting very bad and doing nothing.
7. Tuesday- My doctor said that my sinuses were hazy and he believed it was a combination of my sinuses and my teeth. Another antibiotic was prescribed. I explained to him about my bridge and the dentist's plans. He said to go ahead and get these teeth out and the sooner the better. So, after lunch the dentist pulled the two teeth that were exposed after the bridge broke. Man it was rough.
8. Wednesday through today- I have been sore especially my mouth since then. Thankfully, the left side isn't hurting nearly as bad. I have to watch what I eat and where I chew. After I eat, my mouth will start aching, so I have to take something for it. But, the past two days, I have felt like getting into the sewing room. I cut out four purses on Thursday, and starting sewing one together yesterday. Here is what I accomplished:

I'm making another Auburn purse for the daughter of a friend. She lives out of state, so I really want to get this done for her and get it shipped. I have four more purses to make and one of them will be mine. That is unless I decide to sell it to someone who wants it. LOL I really need a new purse though. So, I better get busy and get myself one made.

In a family that I taught and coached the girls while I was a teacher, lost two family members last week . One daughter to leukemia and the dad to a freak car accident. Please remember this family in your prayers. They have been very special to me since 2003. They have been on my heart and prayers and thoughts the past two weeks.

Well, I have these purses to make, some quilts to make and who knows what else will be in the future. I hope I haven't bored you to tears with my past two weeks. I wanted my followers to know that I have not abandoned you. I haven't even felt like reading my emails. So that tells you how rough I've had it. :D keep me in your prayers always. I will keep you in mine.

May God Bless You,
